Chant

Chanting activates and purifies the energy centers within you. Chanting is a traditional spiritual practice that dates back to ancient times in diverse cultures and religions. It uses your singing voice to activate the divine nature within you. Whether sung with drums, bells, music, or without instruments, chanting is a direct way to settle into your heart space where compassion and communion with life reside.

It is an ancient universal modality for healing and communion with the spirit world. People in Africa, Brazil, Tibet and India, use chants to awaken the sacred. Chants have been handed down as ritual practices from Native Americans, Yogi’s, Buddhists and Christians. The sages heard Sanskrit sounds in the caves during meditation thousands of years ago and those sounds are sung as chants today.

The seers of ancient times discovered that certain sounds brought them joy and ecstasy, some illuminated their consciousness, and some brought tremendous psychic powers. They are used to honor the spirit world.

The subtle harmonic vibrations of chanting act as a cleansing and purifying agent for residual traumas in the mind and body. It is a healing modality that activates and integrates your energy system. Endorphins and serotonin are released which create fluidity, heightened brain and nervous system function.

Singing chants may be a personal practice or sung with a group. Chant music has been proven to be an effective tool for helping young children from infants to childhood to nap or rest. The steady even tones, the even pace, and the fact that the words are in another language not known to the children, all help to calm their bodies and minds.

Chants convey a potent spiritual force and are often used to induce calm before meditation. You can choose to initiate a chanting practice each day or play chants at home for calming the atmosphere.
