Choose Happiness

"Because of willfulness people sit in jail. From willfulness the trapped birds wings are tied. From willfulness fish sizzle in the pan." ~ Rumi

The 'need to be right' causes us to stubbornly and willfully cling to positions which don't lead us to peace and ease. It is a habit that creates stress on our system and havoc in our relationships.

When we engage the full force of our will behind a 'need to be right', we are insisting that our own beliefs are the true and only reality. We imply that someone is right and someone is  wrong. When you take this stance, you create separation from your own heart and from others. Look carefully at where the 'need to be right' takes you.

This week use your awareness to monitor if you have any stubborn tendencies. Make a mental note that you always have a choice to either be 'right' or 'happy'.  At first it may not seem that these two are mutually exclusive, yet the fact is, you can't have both.

When we commit to a path of heart we learn to make the smart choice over and over again. Our consistent choice to 'get off it' and choose happiness Raises Our State.
