The New Year marks a time when we typically evaluate our life and make new resolutions to improve or do things differently. The quest to uplift aspects of our life begins the process of self-improvement. Did you know that 30% of all New Year resolutions are dropped within the first week and most by the end of the month?
There is nothing inherently wrong with a desire for self-improvement. To dream a better dream of life with increased awareness, health, happiness, creativity, abundance and peace are worthy states to choose. Yet, I ask you to entertain a direct route to Raising Your State in the New Year.
Consider for a moment that our need for self-improvement comes from a belief that something is wrong with us. This very belief separates us from Love, the state that heals and transforms everything.
As we commit to self-improvement, we are propelled to work harder and get better. We follow the musts, oughts and shoulds, designed to improve the image we want to create. This impetus gives us a subtle message: I Am Not Okay as I Am. Self-improvement cannot transform this belief, it only reinforces it, while giving us an experience of pushing against Love.
I invite you to shift direction and dive more deeply into Love in 2011. Consider replacing self-improvement with more Self-Acceptance than you have ever known. Imagine meeting situations in your life with an ability to truly accept them, accept how you feel about them and also accept how you choose to navigate them. Feel into what it is like to release the judgment of right and wrong--the mind pattern that goes against Self-acceptance. Then, approach every choice you make with the question: "Does this "work" or "not work" to create more peace, balance and connectedness in my life?"
Self-Acceptance is a loving way to Raise Your State.
