Harmony is created through balance.
Attending to a balance of energies in your home supports your own elemental balance. Everything is connected. This overview of elements is a guide to help you determine if implementing changes in your home environment can enhance the quality of your life.
EARTH
Qualities of energy that the earth element provides translate as physical. They include fertility, practicality, stability, grounding, organized and sensuality. Too much earth causes us to be overly disciplined, serious and conservative. Too little earth creates a feeling of being spacey, ungrounded, disconnected or lacking stability.
WATER
Qualities of energy that the water element provide translate as spiritual. They include being mystical, meditative, relaxed, calm, flowing, trusting in a higher order and synchronistic. Too much water creates a lack of structure, passivity, inconsistency and being “wishy-washy”. Too little water is experienced as anxiety, an inability to handle stress, a need to dominate, a lack of flow and connection with spirit.
FIRE
Qualities of energy that the fire element provide translate as emotional. They include being dynamic, vital, enthusiastic, decisive, assertive, creative and original. Fire stimulates the ability to lead and motivate. Too much fire creates aggression, anger, impatience, impulsivity or overly ambitious behavior To little fire creates a lack of enthusiasm, motivation, excitement, creativity or warmth.
METAL
Qualities of energy that the metal element provide translate as mental. They include having mental clarity, determination, concentration, perseverance, wit and being brilliant even during hardship. Too much metal creates rigidity, an inability to compromise or change course. Too little metal creates weakness, indecision, procrastination, dullness and a lack of mental clarity or determination.
WOOD
Qualities of energy that the wood element provide translate as intuitive. They include being trusting, open to receiving inner guidance, progressive in thoughts & action, flexible, expansion, cooperative and continuing to grow. Too much wood creates over expansion or overwhelm. Too little wood encourages us to stay small and lack trust.
